Events done differently

When SsangYong needed help with events loop took a fresh approach which create great value events that would appeal to target media and dial up the fun.

When SsangYong needed help with its events loop realised a fresh approach was required.

Rather than going head-to-head with more established brands, with bigger budgets, the agency mixed things up to create lower budget events that would really appeal to target media – dialing up the fun in the process.

The first was the #PackedLaunch in a lunch bag, a festive road trip to a Christmas market in Europe, and a ‘Dirty Weekend’ with off-roading, hot tubs and handcuffs!

“The response from the events was fantastic and journalists are engaging much more positively with the brand as a result.”

The return of a legend

Bringing the Brabham name back, loop was involved in media strategy and planning from the start for a launch like no other.

Involved in media strategy and planning from the start, loop was responsible for the production, publication and distribution of all press material, to a tightly controlled schedule.

Working in a six-month window, the campaign teased details of the new car in the lead up to its unveiling. Drawing on the Brabham family’s heritage, it positioned the car as a technical tour-de-force.

From an unveiling at the Australian Embassy, surrounded by VIPs, famous racing drivers and media, to the public debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, the agency was on hand every step of the way.

Best of Bicester: loop agency & Brabham unite at Scramble!

Brabham’s Formula 1 heritage celebrated on the loop lawn, as part of Bicester Heritage’s April Scramble

Brabham’s F1 illustrious history was showcased on the loop ‘lawn’ during the April Scramble at Bicester Heritage. The lawn display featured Brabham’s BT7 and BT24 Grand Prix cars alongside other landmark examples from the marque.

Curated by Brabham Branding, the display included some of the finest examples from the marque’s history, including the 1963 Brabham BT7 – one of two works cars driven by Jack Brabham and Dan Gurney, and the car which earned the brands first of 35 GP victories in 1964 at the French Grand Prix at Rouen.

loop lawn visitors were greeted by a 1967 Brabham BT24 – a period chassis rebuilt in the same specification used by Denny Hulme to win the 1967 World Championship – as well as a BT18B ex-Italian GP car and a BT2 Formula Junior, which was the first ever Brabham to sport the iconic green and gold livery design.

Adrian Miller’s immaculate 1966 Vauxhall Viva HB Brabham was also in attendance, one of seven surviving examples and the subject of a 1/43 scale model replica by Corgi Vanguards.

The historic display included a glimpse into the future with live demonstrations of the BT19 inspired racing sim, an esports motorsport simulator developed in conjunction with Base performance.

Triple Formula One world champion Sir Jack Brabham remains the only man to win the championship driving one of his own cars. Today Brabham is spearheaded by son and multiple Le Mans winner David Brabham, who with his team is focused on continuing to develop the Brabham business through its brand partnership program, which started with Brabham Automotive back in 2018.

Based at Bicester Heritage, loop is a specialist automotive communications agency which shares on office building with Brabham Branding. The agency supports brands across the automotive sector, from simple press releases to large-scale international events.

Work starts on next phase of Bicester Heritage development

Contracts have been signed to commence construction on the next key phase of development at Bicester Heritage – a major extension of the Bicester Heritage Technical Site as part of the Bicester Motion Technical Cluster. The move follows the appointment of Northamptonshire-based Buckingham Group as the construction partner for the project which will be delivered in Q2 of 2020.

Thanks to the unanimous planning approval that the project has received from Cherwell District Council, the entire £10.4 million project has been comprehensively funded from the outset with the backing of Handelsbanken AB.

The commencement of works signifies an exciting new era in the history of the former RAF aerodrome with the first new-build development in more than 80 years.

Occupying land currently lying derelict alongside Skimmingdish Lane, formerly an active part of the RAF Bicester base, the New Technical Site will provide purpose-built units, allowing new businesses to join the thriving Bicester Heritage community in eight new buildings.

Built sympathetically and in keeping with their Grade II-listed surroundings, the new units – ranging in size from 5,000-17,000 ft2 – are expected to create a host of new skilled employment and training opportunities. More than 80% of the space has been pre-let in advance of the construction beginning and, with an extensive waiting list already in place for the remaining units, the New Technical Site has proved an immediate business success.

The design and arrangement of the New Technical Site, which received unanimous approval from the Cherwell District Council’s planning committee in December 2018, has been developed with a conservation-led approach. This ensures the respect of the site’s historic significance and the creation of new structures that are in keeping with the character and appearance of the wider development.
