For its biggest gathering yet, the third REVS social media car show: Refuelled and Ready promises a unique weekend of classic cars, live broadcasts, and special guests. With everything from racing cars to design icons, turn of the century electric cars to more accessible classics, on a test track or in a museum, it’ll show how a love of all things automotive has helped enthusiasts through the difficulties of the last six months.
A new element for the REVS weekend, allows everyone the chance to submit a ‘talking heads‘ video, with an invitation to send a 60 sec clip, people can talk on the themes of how they’ve used their vehicle during lockdown, how they have been supporting the classic community or how their post lockdown automotive adventures are shaping up.
REVS Refuelled and Ready will be separated into two distinct days, with Saturday’s programme streamed live from Bicester Heritage, with some amazing machines in action on the track, while Sunday will be more akin to the REVS events in May and June.
With over 5300 subscribers, this REVS events continue the efforts of founder, motoring enthusiast and car designer-turned-reverend Adam Gompertz. Started in May the social media events have proved fantastically popular and, run with the goodwill of its contributors, have established a vibrant online community solely to support others.
“We started the REVS virtual events to help people in this time of uncertainty with something really interactive and incredibly encouraging,” explained Adam. “Positive mental health is a subject that I’m passionate about, and the ability for us to support each other as we grow a great family of motoring fans has been phenomenal. REVS Refuelled and Ready is ambitious, but we have the backing of some great businesses, like Bicester Heritage among others, and passionate individuals that will help make it happen.”
Starting on Saturday at 9:30am, the first day will be steamed live from the Command Works, the beautiful new buildings at Bicester Heritage. Focusing on outstanding cars it will be hosted by journalist Alex Goy, with driving the Bicester Heritage test track. Guests will include famous car designer Peter Stevens, journalists Steve Cropley, Vicky Parrott, Charlotte Vowden, and TV presenter Jimmy Deville, while Q&A sessions will also allow the audience to ask question of the guests in the studio, on topics ranging from favourite cars to boosting mental health.
Sunday’s schedule will have a more relaxed feel, and feature the mix of subjects that proved so popular for the first two REVS events. Feature stories from Brooklands and the British Motor Museum will show the valuable work that goes into keeping the heritage of automotive engineering in the UK alive. With museums hit hard finically by lockdown, it’s the perfect time to reinforce why they need support once open again.
REVS is supporting charities during its event, including MIND, Mission Motorsport and Starter Motor, with competitions and opportunities to donate across the weekend.
REVS Restored will run as a Facebook group, and people can upload their own pictures/stories of their cars – sharing their passion for any vehicle.
